CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A new study shows a vegan diet, which means no meat, no cheese, no eggs and no other animal products, may improve health outcomes, especially if you are struggling with weight.
This study is published in the journal Nutrients.
This study is an association, not a cause and effect, but the 75 people in this study ate a vegan diet that was high in carbohydrates and fiber. Researchers found those who did this for about four months had a significant reduction in insulin resistance, body weight and fat mass compared to those who did not eat this way.
All the people in this study were either overweight or obese based on weight for height.
The vegan group also experienced significant weight loss during the study as well.
